Happy Thanksgiving to you all! Just wanted to let you know that our new selection of ornaments from Germany, Austria and France have arrived. We have glass blown, Mercury glass, vintage style mushrooms (good luck in Germany) beautiful white and black felted swans, owls, robin eggs, so much more!

Black Friday Weekend we are running 20% our ornaments, apparel, home decor and home decorating books.

We also have a large selection of hats, shearling gloves, wool, silk and lace scarves, stocking suffers GALORE, home decor books, soaps from around the world, clocks, new selection of rare antiques and vintage finds.

This year we added have a nice selection of handmade apparel, books, and greeting cards from local Hudson Valley authors and artist.

Wiltsie Bridge will open at 10am Friday, Saturday and Sunday and will remain open until 8pm both Friday and Saturday. Close at 7pm Sunday.

Visit our booth at this years Rhinebeck Sinterklaas Old Dutch Tradition Dec 1st at the Beekman Arms

 
This year we will have a booth at the Sinterklass Old Dutch Christmas celebration in Rhinebeck NY. Our booth will be housed in the Beekmarms hotel where they are hosting a handmade craft show to honer the Old Dutch Traditions. All proceeds raised by the craft show including 10% of all sale will be donated to keep the Sinterklauss tradition alive.

Craft show will be on Dec 1st in Rhinebeck the same day Santa Claus and his elves arrive in Rhinebeck.

We are busy as elves here at the shop making all kinds of goodies for you! Felted ornaments, blown glass decorations, handmade hats and scarves, stockings and many whimsies...

Beginners Folk Art Rug Hooking Workshop Tuesday Nov 10th 6:30 to 9pm

This easy and enjoyable craft dates back to Early Colonial America. Stu­dents will learn the basics of primitive hooking and will complete a beauti­ful project, perfect for holiday gift giving. All new selection of affordable project kits complete with everything you need to get started with rug hooking will be available at class. Students may also bring kits they may already have. 845-758-4001. Classes will be held at our shop located in Milan, just a few miles from Red Hook and Rhinebeck.

Workshop will be a one-part class consisting of 2 ½ hours. Workshop fee is $30.00 Pre Registration is required and half the fee at signs up to reserve a space. Class limit is 6 people.


Directions: from the center of Red Hook: take route 199 east for 3 miles, Wiltsie Bridge is on the left at the traffic light intersection of routes 199 & 308.

Instructor: Marie Aimee, who has 20 years experience in the fiber arts, loves teaching and inspiring creativity in others.

Hot mulled cider and cookies provided!

Primitive Rug Hooking Gathering at our shop in Red Hook / Rhinebeck NY

Please join us for a night of rug hooking and conversation Nov 3rd at 6:30 PM. All are welcome including knitters. We stock a good selection of hand dyed wool, hooks, books, patterns, monks cloth, Dorr Mill Linen and patterns from Fraiser, Butter Milk Basin Primitives and Needleluv.

Stop on by, mom made chocolate cupcakes with her famous double chocolate frosting! Hot mulled cider and fresh fruit on the side.

163 Carved Halloween Pumpkins on Display in Pine Plains all Weekend Long

 

If you are into Halloween and appreciate the art of craving pumpkins you're in for a treat. Every year local Pine Plains resident John Bradley organizes a large display of carved pumpkins out on Hoffman Bridge for three scary nights of viewing. You won't want to miss this Halloweens display of 163 carved pumpkins (the biggest display ever) that John with the enlisted help of friends, families and local residents carved together.

Hoffman Bridge provides a stunning backdrop complete with a beautifully lit waterfall and antique Mill dating back to the 18th or 19th century. You can almost hear the hoofs of the headless horseman's horse galloping down the old stone bridge off to terrorize Pine Plains residents.

John and his family have been organizing this great display for 16 years now and every year cars line up to drive slowly over the bridge to ohh and ahh at the many uniquely designed pumpkins. Each pumpkin is lit with handmade candles that John makes with recycled wax he collects all year round. Talk about resourceful!

 John put a lot of heart and effort into this years Halloween display and it's well worth a family trip over to see the display for yourself.

New affordable glass beaded bags just in time for the holidays!

 

 

 

 

 

We knew these bags would be an instant hit when we spotted them and so far they have been flying out of our store as early holiday gifts. We were impressed by the high quality and craftsmanship as well as the affordable price range which we have passed on to our customers!

They are all hand beaded in exquisite geometrical designs using tiny glass beads and each one has sturdy zippers that were sewn in well.

We have small change purses that also make great credit card and cash holders. Measures: 5 1/2" across by 4" high. $15 each

Then we have clutches that measure 8" across by 5" high. They retail for $28

The large hanging purses come with two handy zip compartments for easy organizing. Measure 9" high by 7" across. $45.00

Beautiful Antique 1800’s Primitive Country work TABLE, OLD BLUE PAINT

 

We have a new arrival at the shop to offer, a beautiful worktable that dates from the 1800’s. It has a beautiful blue paint finish that has worn off from years of use. The tabletop was nailed down with large blacksmith made nails that compliment the table nicely. The table is well made and in very sturdy, solid condition.

Table would be perfect in an office, a hallway or as an extra worktable in your kitchen.

I love the finish and the simple lines, the blacksmith wrought iron nails make it unique.

This is a two part class consisting of 4 hrs to be held this Tuesday 6:30 to 8:30 and the following Tuesday 6:30 to 8:30. Night one class will learn the history and basics of hooking. Class will start work on their project which they can continue working on during the rest of the week. We will focus on finishing skills and rug care in the following class and encourage students to ask any questions they may have.
