Just in time for the Fourth of July!
This striking work of art is a folk art handmade quilt from the 1920’s. Made of sturdy red, off white and blue material. The overall effect of this quilt is gorgeous; I love the different patterns when standing back from this one, pictures speak more then words.
Quilt is machine pieced and hand quilted, stitches and workmanship are primitive but it only adds to the folk art effect of this quilt.
Quilt is a very good quality and a great addition for the primitive collector. I can see this quilt in Polly Minick’s collection or in a Country Home magazine spread.
Condition:
Quilt is old and has some small issues. There are a few stains that show on the front. There are also hanging threads that need to be clipped off. There is a patch where the red side panel with the stars faded a little in one section. The backside looks quite dirty and there are many stains on this side as you can see from the photos. I feel many of the stains can be removed with a good washing. Quilt is in good sturdy condition, no rotting of any kind.
Quilt would be ideal on a bed or displayed on a wall. Also a great outdoor decoration for American Holidays when displayed on a close line. 4th of July is right around the corner!
Quilt measures: 65” wide and 84” long.
