Stunning pair of cast metal horse heads from the late 19th c., France. Horse heads are huge, each one measuring about 32" high by 19" across and 27" deep. They have holes for mounting.
We were notified by a helpful customer that another one of these horse heads was showcased on a recent episode of "Storage Wars". Their horse head was gold leafed however. The Storage Wars crew brought the head to an appraiser who estimated the value of the single head at $3000. These heads were used in France outside restaurants to advertise that horse meat was served within.
Each head has great patina and age, no damage, cracks or holes. Both heads are fully intact.
We came across this pair at the Brimfield antique show in MA, very unusual find! Pair makes a stunning impact, ideal mounted into a stone wall or on a barn.
We would like to sell the heads as a pair but if we have to split them up, each head is $1,000 or $1,800 for both, prices are FIRM.
The heads are very heavy, shipping is not an option. Local pick up only!
