This Sunday morning I left early in the morning with the intention of checking out a few local flea markets and tag sales. The thrill of the hunt is enough to get me wide eyed and bushy tail at 5:30 am any day!
However the forecast of a rainy day (which I did not think to check) closed all the markets and I was out of luck.
So instead of spending the morning picking for antiques I ended up spending it picking locally grown blueberries at Greig's Farm in Upper Red Hook NY!
Greig's Farm not only grows blueberries, but raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, and many other veggies also. The staff is friendly and down to earth, you just pull up to their wonderful farm, grab some picking buckets and drive up to the designated picking areas. Their farm commands a beautiful view of the rolling countryside of Tivoli which reminds many of the Tuscan countryside. No really, it does!
I love picking at Greigs and have been going for many years now. It's a great place to have a picnic lunch with family or spend the afternoon picking alone peacefully.
If you're not the pick it yourself type, Greigs has a farm stand where you can buy baskets of already picked fruit. Today it started to pour buckets of water after about half an hour picking so I ended up cheating and buying a few pints of berries to add what I picked myself!
